what does ampd stand for?

Over ten years ago I came up with the idea of soldiers with weaponized prosthetics for a science fiction novel. The acronym of A.M.P.D. for Artificial Military Prosthetics Division was born. Since that day and the first book was written, the acronym has evolved into something so much more. The business I am building is about living each day the best way we can. When I wake up every morning I focus on my attitude, motivation, principle and determination. These are the things that guide my process every day.

Life can be a roller coaster with ups and downs, and when the downs have hit me, my attitude and emotions are the first thing effected. How do I feel about what is happening or what has happened? The reality is I don't always have control over what happens, but my response or reaction is what I do have control of. I have a choice and have to be aware of how I feel and not react in a harsh emotional way. I have to be motivated to do something to change or to resolve the situations I am in. Motivation represents the willingness to take action and do the things for me to learn. I pride myself on trying to learn as much as I can. With great pain, comes great growth. We have to be motivated to listen, learn and take action from what we learn.

As I act, I also look at what actions I take. Are the actions I can take within the principal thoughts I believe? Over time I have also been working on living in a positive way. My principles may differ from others, but I also work hard on not judging those that differ from me. I cannot change other people and have no control over other people. With that said, they do not have control over me either. I do my best in respecting those around me and living within my own space. As the first two things I have spoken about, attitude and motivation begin my day, living in principles is what guides my day. I will hold the door for someone or let someone with two or three items go ahead of me in the grocery store. To some that may seem silly, but to me it's an act of kindness and respect. Two things I hold important in my principles.

As I say all of that, not everything goes my way, and may not go your way. What do you do when things go wrong, or you don't get what you want? I have built the determination to keep going and move forward. Is that easy to do? Of course not, but we deal with the hands we are dealt. We deal with the results we get from the choices we make. I am not perfect, and guess what, no one is perfect. We have flaws and character defects and each day we have to continue to move forward, especially when we make mistakes. Sometimes our principles are not in line, and we make a choice we realize was bad. Put the Negan bat down and don't beat yourself up. Be determined to learn from it.

These four things come full circle, and if I make a mistake or get a bad result, I have to go back to what my attitude is and find the motivation to learn or change something. I stick to my principles and stay determined to improve. That is what AMPD Novels represents and as I move forward, I hope the things I write and publish and do motivates people to follow that same ideal.
