October to remember.

Happy Halloween to everyone who loves this day as much as I do. This month has become a month to remember in my life. I attended a red-carpet Gala in Hollywood, California, I sponsored Saito Motorsports at the Petit LeMan weekend at Road Atlanta and then traveled to Charlotte to support my close friend in a body building competition. As I still try to recover and get the sleep, I watch my Toronto Blue Jays try to win the World Series. It has been an emotional roller coaster, and one that I have enjoyed through every second.
Starting the month off with a trip to Hollywood as a finalist for an Author of the Year award was surreal. Finding myself staying at Loews Hollywood Hotel across from the theater where Jimmy Kimmel films his show, and walking the Hollywood walk of fame puts a smile on your face. At night I could see the glow of Houdini's Magic Castle. Saturday night was the Gala which brought together over three hundred and fifty authors from all over the world. I was a finalist for the Science Fiction category and even though I did not win, to be a finalist with my very first novel was incredibly satisfying. It has opened my eyes to so many possibilities ahead of me. I am also excited to use this momentum to publish and release my second book early next year. I debated doing one of the Hollywood stars bus tours. I did and I actually enjoyed it more than I expected I would. Touring Beverly Hills and Rodeo drive, seeing Al Pacino's home and Rihanna's Roll Royce parked outside of her gate was pretty cool. Her personal bodyguard was quite friendly as well. Before I left, I watched crews build the red carpet for the Tron Ares premier, which included a stage for Nine Inch Nails to perform.
That Sunday night I then flew a red eye flight back to Atlanta. This is where you learn how crazy and passionate I am for Sports car racing. I changed from glamorous living to outdoor camping at Road Atlanta Motorsports Park for the Petit LeMans weekend. I did not sleep in an actual bed for seven days. This was an important weekend because I made the decision to sponsor and support Saito Motorsports in the Mazda MX5 Cup series. It was amazing to meet the drivers and team owner, network in the paddock and develop one of my next books. The results were a bit rough, but the website got visibility and the partnership with Saito Motorsports will continue. This also allowed Jerry to get named by a pair of sisters camping with family. The fact they named him not knowing my name was Thom makes it even more destined.
The following week and weekend were preparing for my drive to Charlotte North Carolina to support my friend Moira at her body building competition. Creating positive and supportive friendships is important to me. Showing up for them as they have shown up for me. She looked amazing and did amazing winning two categories. She should have won overall for her division but as she said, it's a subjective sport. I am so proud of her, and as she moves forward in her journey it motivates me to move forward in mine. Writing and publishing book, creating this blog and motivating others.
This whole month has been amazing and to top it off, my Toronto Blue Jays are a win away from the World Series. To all the kids in my neighborhood, if the porch light goes off, don't take it personal, the games on. I was 15 the last time they made and won the World Series. I still have my jersey. I'll put it on Jerry tonight, because it doesn't fit me. If they finish it off tonight, it will truly be one of the best months of my life.
